Birds of Ciudad Real II

PART II

Yesterday afternoon I did decide to have a look at the Navaseca lagoon, next to Las Tablas National Park. It was now more than three months ago from my last visit and it definitely didn't disapoint me at all! Once I arrived the place it was quite surprising seeing one of the sections of the wetland totally dry in spite of the last rains. I had in mind to take some videos of the beautiful White-headed Ducks, and this had been the most productive site of this lagoon in a late afteroon in previous visits. No ducks though but a couple of Penduline Tits making their nest, probably absorted in a second brood, was well worth to be seen. Common, Savi's and Great Reed Warblers were singing all time during my visit while Black-headed Gulls and Whiskered Ters flew over head a few times going back and forth from their nesting platforms.

Finally I managed to find some White-headed Ducks at a reasonable distance in good light. Amongs the main party several males were nicely displaying. You will see here down a quick and simple video of the main highlights I had. I'm so pleased with the video quality provided by the Iphone 7 attached to the Swarovski 85 mm. Besides all the species shown here I did also see Purple Swamphen, Purple Heron, Little Bittern, Ferruginous Duck, Little Ringed Plover and Black-tailed Godwit but I couldn't find the way to film them.

This is all by now... I hope you enjoy the video. If everything goes well our first trip after the lockdown should be a break to Picos de Europa on 9 - 12 July.
